our metamorphosis experience

Last year we found this unusual looking catepillar in our back yard.  We brought it into the clinic and placed it in a container.  A couple of days later, the catepillar began to make a cocoon around itself.  We have kept it inside all winter long wondering what would happen.  Then, much to our amazement, one day the cocoon was opened and sitting in the cage was a beautiful moth.  We have before and after pictures of this wonderful event.  After taking some pictures, we opened up the cage door and the moth flew out and across the sky, hoping to find another like itself.  We thought we would share these pictures with you.  Enjoy.
